The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 appropriated $1.5 billion of discretionary grant funds for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) for capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure to be awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation. These TIGER Discretionary Grants are to be awarded on a competitive basis to projects that have a significant impact on the Nation, a metropolitan area, or a region. Funds under this program will be awarded to State and local governments, including U.S. territories, tribal governments, transit agencies, port authorities, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), other political subdivisions of State or local governments, and multi-State or multi-jurisdictional applicants. Project must have a significant impact on the Nation, a metro area or a region. Projects funded under this program may not be less than $20 million (may be waived) and no greater than $300 million. Eligible Projects include:
and all applications should reference EDAs where applicable.In order to meet certification requirements, NYSDOT must also comply with the Certification requirements of the Recovery Act as a condition for award of TIGER Discretionary Grants to State or Local agencies. The Certification must be executed and posted on a Web site and linked to Recovery.gov prior to receiving the grant's funds. Applications must also be on TIP/STIP prior to the award of a TIGER discretionary grant. |
